Foodleaf has mice too
May 1st 2009 05:51
I've brought this subject over from my other Orble blog, Light Within, because of course, the mice happen in the kitchen, which is where my food gets prepared.
I know to keep my things clean, more so now that I know there's little mousies around. It makes you value hot water once you realise the little critters may be walking on things. And of course once this kitchen get installed, then I might have cupboards that actually close properly, which would be nice. It might make it easier to shut stuff away from the little mousies.
I don't like catching these mice in the traps, but I don't like them wandering around my kitchen either. If they stayed outside, or if my silly dogs did their job properly, we wouldn't be in this situation, would we?
I do feel sorry for the mice. I heard a trap go off at about 11.00 am today, and my heart sank. When I went into the kitchen, sure enough, another mouse, dead, in the trap. I'm just glad that we have super easy to set traps. The wooden traps have caught my fingers too many times in the past.
The plastic traps we have now are terrific.
Poor mice
stay outa my kitchen
that'd be nice
don't wanna kill ya
once twice thrice
but the trap'll get ya
just like a vice
it's a gamble for them,
a toss of the dice
is dining on crumbs
worth the price?

I, along with my two cats, heard a chewing noise. This prompted me to set my traps.
Within 20 minutes, my trap snapped. I had caught two mice at once, using peanut butter. I actually cried! They were so cute but I knew the diseases that they carry could be passed to my family. It was necessary.

I feel so much better now. If anyone can spot any flaws in the logic of that, feel free to take this conversation further.
It is a line of thinking and reasoning that has been used thousands of times before. By armies, rapists, murderers, good thinkin' god fearin' citizens.
Blame the victim.
