too hot to eat
February 2nd 2009 05:15
It is so hot here still. I'm not interested in eating anything. I thought about lunch, but no, not hungry. My mum offered me some chocolate earlier today and I said no.
It's too hot. At the moment (I just got home) I've got a cup of instant coffee made with a tiny bit of hot water and lots of cold milk. I put in extra sugar because iced coffee is meant to be sweet.
If I had ice cream that would have gone in too, but c'est la vie! Cold milk and water it is.
It's Monday, so tea tonight is garlic sausage rolls for son and husband and something else for me (all from DJs). usually the something else for me is a lamb pie or similar, but I don't like pastry things heated up in the microwave, and there is no way in the world I am turning on the oven.
I put an order in for a small quiche - quiches aren't so terrible heated in the microwave, and I don't want to eat anything to hot anyway.
Last night for tea we had sausages in wraps with lettuce, cheese and mushrooms. The mushrooms were the nicest part of tea, I reckon.
For the mushies, I slice or chop them depending on size, then I put some balsamic vinegar in with them and cook them for a few minutes in the microwave. Then I add some spring onions and cook it all for a little while longer, then it's done.
Mushrooms done like this re delicious hot, warm or cold. Yum, yum, yumalicious.
It doesn't look like the heat wave in South Australia is going to end just yet. I have no idea what to have for tea tomorrow night. I'd happily eat practically nothing, but husband and son think differently.
The dogs aren't that off their food, but I haven't been feeding them as much as usual because they've been spending most of their time reclining in comfort inside. No mad chasing of birds during the day - that's for when the Pharaoh Hound first get let out in the morning, then it's sleep inside for the rest of their time.
What a life.

I spoke to my mum in Adelaide today. She's 79 and today was the first time I have ever heard her suggest she is tired of life.

It's the heat, that's why what I wrote didn't make sense. You know what I meant, us fritz eaters just know things.

I don't suppose you could send some of your rain down south could you?
