Getting a New Kitchen!
February 20th 2009 05:33
I’m getting a new kitchen soon, and I’m finally getting a little bit excited about decorating my home. I say “a little bit excited” because I’ve never got into the womanly tasks of making my home a home.
My home keeps the rain and sun off me, it keeps me warm or cool, depending on what I want/need. It has a computer and enough room for books. What more do you need?
Anyway, this kitchen that’s coming isn’t really new as such, it’s new to us, but it used to be my brother’s kitchen. My brother has a new kitchen, and he had his old kitchen delivered to Mum’s place, where she had storage space.
Finally, we were able to organise delivery to our house, the kitchen is currently stored in our shed, waiting on Steve to find the time to spend a day working on putting the kitchen. Once the kitchen is in, that’s when I’ll really get stuck into my kitchen. We’ve lived in this house for twenty years, and I’ve always hated the kitchen.
I love cooking though, so I’ve put up with the kitchen to weave my magic spells with food. With a new kitchen, I might finally be able to put saucepans out of the way.
They’ve been stored in a rack on the floor, in a very unattractive manner. I might get an enclume pot rack. I’ve seen photos of enclume potracks and they look smart, tidy, and quite stylish. I’ve never thought anything in my kitchen could look like any of those things!
I might even get some new saucepans, then I’ll have to get more enclume pot racks. This is feeling like it might be fun!
Just wait and see what I might be able to achieve once I get my new kitchen!

Make sure you include lots of piccies when it's in!! We are building a house at the moment (At least we will be when council approves the plans!!) and I have been scouring home magazines getting ideas on kitchens.

I'm not one of those people who get excited by things like that, something wrong with that part of my girlieness. Although, having said that, I did have a great time exploring Ikea with husband and son earlier this year.
The (non)joys of getting friend's husbands to do a cheap job are beginning to grate, but my scottish ancestry won't let me pay big bucks for a kitchen, not when that kitchen is sitting the shed waiting.
We have to wait until "Steve" catches up with his normal jobs (he wasn't able to do his normal work or anything else really, for the fortnight South Australia had a record heat wave).
