New Kitchen is In!!!
June 23rd 2009 02:29
It's been twenty years I've lived in this house. Twenty long years of living with a kitchen I've hated.
I don't know the person who had this house built, but I sure know he was no style king. The kitchen that I have put up with, is about the worst you could imagine in a 70's kitchens built by a person who has no idea about what a kitchen really needs to make it an all right place to spend your cooking time.
The kitchen had inadequate cupboard space, no drawers, insufficient lighting. The benchtops were one and a half inch tiles and the cupboards that were there were an awful green. I like green, it's my favourite colour, but this green was revolting.
But I put up with this kitchen, because the property had other things that were good. The swimming pool, the dog kennels, the space, the neighbours being far enough away. But the kitchen!
But now, I am pleased to let you know I finally have a kitchen I can be proud of. I am happy to clean this kitchen, happy to be in this kitchen. And the good thing is, the cupboards can actually keep the damned mice out!
Absolute bliss. Just thought I'd let you know. Thank you for reading!

But the white stove top is still white - spills get cleaned up as soon as possible (minutes now, not days!).
I am now thinking about other rooms in the house. What could we do in the loungeroom, bathroom, and so on. Of course my novels are not getting written. Maybe I should grab a chair and sit in the kitchen. I might get inspired by the lovely feel of it all, and get writing.
