Put some pork on your fork
April 17th 2009 06:34
Yesterday hubby came home from work, and the Adelaide Central Market, with lots of meaty things to put in the fridge. He bought some kind of flavoured sausages, some crocodile meat and two kilos of game pork.
The pork was some ridiculously low price, so it seems to be a great bargain. Today hubby sent me an email asking that I cook pork for tea tonight. I'll cook maybe 500 grams for the three of us for tea, and then all of the other meat can go in the freezer.
I don't mind pork every now and then, I've had some lovely pork meals. I wouldn't want to eat it every night for tea, but every now and then is good.
What way will I cook it though? It's pork steaks, so I guess I can cut it up further and, I don't know, put it in a saucepan with a sauce & slow cook it? I have a much used Asian Cookbook, that I haven't looked at for years and years. I can vaguely remember a pork dish from that book, that had I think coconut in it and I don't know, maybe onions and garlic?
I'll do some rice in the microwave for sopping up the excess juices and it will be wonderful! I hope.
The problem is, I feel sick as a dog and don't feel like eating a thing. Hunger does wonders for gastonomical creativity. I'd better get the book down and try to find that recipe. Or maybe browsing through might awaken some hunger and ideas.
Cross your fingers for me, I don't want to cook up a crock of yuck!

I ended up cooking BBQ pork, it seemed simpler. We all enjoyed our tea last night. Tonight it's KFC, then tomorrow night, who knows?

Graham cooks lovely pork bellies, so tender you truly can cut it with a fork. It's boiled to get some of the fat out, then cooked in a special sauce.
Yummy!
KFC tomorrow night, I'll grab it on the way home from the poetry workshop I'm going to tomorrow. What a great day I have lined up!
