Warmer weather, interesting food
July 30th 2009 23:37
As I sit here with frigid fingers, contemplating cooking another casserole for dinner for the next week, I'm thinking, there has to be somewhere else I could be. Somewhere warm, somewhere I could eat interesting food that I don't have to cook myself.
But where? In Australia at the moment Darwin is looking good, 27 degree days, as opposed to 17 degrees in South Australia where I am, shivering. Hubby and son could eat crocodile and barramundi, and I could eat, well I don't know what, but I wouldn't have to do the dishes.
The money issue at the moment is going OK, so why am I still sitting her, in the cold? Oh yeah, hubby works, son studies, I'm beginning studying soon. Society doesn't understand the need people have for being able to change their circumstances.
Well, of course, society is an inanimate thing, and people fear change, so it's probably our fault. I fear being destitute, and I would hate my son not continuing with his schooling. He'd only waste his time with video games if he was not at school.
He goes away into the TV screen whenever he gets the chance, learning how to kill people and steal cars, how to drive really fast and ignore consequences.
Ah, the joys of parenthood. He's an OK kid, I'm an OK parent.

Casserole sounds great, how about some pea and ham soup, before a shop or home made pizza?
